Room details

The Goldmine

2–8 players60 minutes Difficulty:

It is 1862 and the Cardrona Valley is gripped by gold fever. You have broken into a rival prospector's claim hut. Find the deed to his stake before he returns from the creek — or you will be tried at the Wanaka courthouse and sent to Dunedin in chains.

Aoraki Protocol

2–6 players60 minutes Difficulty:

A tramping party has gone missing above the bushline on Mt Aspiring. You are the alpine rescue team. The weather window closes in sixty minutes — find the coordinates, radio base camp, and trigger the helicopter before the storm rolls in.

The Winery Heist

3–8 players60 minutes Difficulty:

A case of 1997 pinot noir — worth $48,000 — has disappeared from a Central Otago winery's barrel room. The owner has given you one hour before she calls the police. Crack the cellar codes, follow the winemaker's notes, and find where the bottles are hidden.

// What players say

We did the Goldmine for my partner's birthday and barely made it out with twelve seconds left. The set design is incredible — you forget you are on Ardmore Street. — Tāne R., Queenstown, August 2026
Aoraki Protocol is no joke. We had six people and still failed at the radio step. Already booked again for next weekend. Staff were brilliant. — Sam & Jo, Christchurch, July 2026
Took the kids (12 and 14) to The Winery Heist on a rainy day. Perfect difficulty for families — they felt like heroes when they cracked the barrel code. — Michelle W., Wanaka local, June 2026
We run our team-building days here. Three rooms, twenty-four people, everyone buzzing at dinner afterwards. Worth every dollar. — Cardrona Alpine Resort staff event, May 2026
Better than Puzzling World and I say that with love. The theming is on another level — the winery room actually smells like a barrel room. — Devon M., Auckland, April 2026

// Frequently asked

How hard are the rooms?
The Winery Heist is designed for first-timers and families (difficulty 2/5). The Goldmine suits most groups (3/5). Aoraki Protocol is genuinely tough — about 30% of groups escape. We adjust hint frequency for beginners.
What ages can play?
We recommend 10 and over. Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. There are no jump scares or horror elements — just puzzles and time pressure.
Where do we park?
Ardmore Street has free two-hour parking. The lakefront car park is a two-minute walk. Arrive ten minutes early for your briefing.
What should we bring?
Just yourselves. Phones and smartwatches go in a locker before you enter. We provide everything you need inside the room.
Can we do two rooms in one visit?
Absolutely. Allow ninety minutes per room (sixty in the room plus briefing and debrief). Most double-session groups book the 10am and 12pm slots.
Is it wheelchair accessible?
The Winery Heist is fully accessible — ground floor, wide doorways, seated puzzles. The Goldmine and Aoraki Protocol involve stairs and confined spaces. Get in touch and we will work with you.
What if we do not escape?
You still had sixty minutes of fun. We walk you through the solution so you know how close you were. No one leaves confused.
