  1. Adult classes

    Five term-based classes run for eight weeks. All materials are supplied unless noted. Maximum twelve per class so everyone gets individual attention.

  2. Kids & teens

    Structured programmes for young artists. We cover drawing, painting, collage and printmaking across the term, with a studio exhibition in week eight.

    Each session ends with a ten-minute show-and-tell so students can talk about their work. Parents welcome at the week-eight exhibition.

  3. Drop-in sessions

    Any class with an available spot is open to drop-ins. No booking required — just turn up with your apron (or borrow one of ours).

    Studio membership — $45 / month

    Discounted drop-in rate, open studio access on Wednesday evenings (6–9 pm), and 10% off art supplies from our shop shelf. Cancel anytime.

  5. The studio & team

    Ink & Ochre is a ground-floor studio on Bridge Street with north-facing windows, a printmaking press, easels for twelve, a ceramics drying rack and a shared library of art books. The building is wheelchair accessible with a ramp from the car park.

    Mere Taipari

    Founder & printmaker. Fifteen years teaching lino and woodblock. Trained at Ilam School of Fine Arts. Runs printmaking and mixed media.

    Josh Harwood

    Life drawing & oil painting tutor. Elam graduate, exhibited with Enjoy Gallery and Blue Oyster. Teaches observational drawing and alla prima technique.

    Kaia Chen

    Watercolour, mixed media and kids' classes. BFA from Massey, former art therapist. Brings a gentle, confidence-building approach.
